Tobias Hellkvist (b. 1984) is a Swedish composer and artist, working mainly in the field of ambient, drone and electroacoustic music. Blending the electronic with the organic, dense shimmering drones with intense 'wall of sound'-textures, Hellkvists' cinematic atmospheres has been referred to as dynamic, varied and "packed full of life".

Being described as "one of Sweden's best kept secrets" when releasing his first widely distributed album in 2010, Hellkvist has continued to evolve his sound throughout the years, experimenting his way forward combining the heavily processed soundscapes with the use of acoustic instruments, analog loops and, in some cases, a steady 4/4 beat.

With several releases on Jap/UK labels Home Normal, Tokyo Droning and most recently Small Fragments, Hellkvist has gained a strong following in Japan, but also in parts of Europe and North America, and has drawn comparisons to artists like Tim Hecker, Mountains, Celer and Chihei Hatakeyama.

After releasing Everything is Connected on Home Normal in September 2012, various blogs and sites regarded it as one of the finest releases of the year, in any genre. It was marked out as a continuation in the evolution of Hellkvists' sound. This culminated in a headline performance at the Home Normal night at The Vortex in London in March 2013, with other acts The Black Elk Quartet, Olan Mill, and Moon Ate The Dark.

While also doing occasional mastering work for other artists and labels, Hellkvist is currently working in his studio in Malmö, Sweden, writing new material for upcoming solo releases, as well as for Pixie Carnation, a Swedish rock/pop act of which he is a founding member and songwriter.
